a great leather jacket- no explanation necessary. linked the one I wear at least 4 days a week.
quality knitwear - If you don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on a great knit, I highly recommend Sezane or buying vintage.
Bottega bags- They’re works of art, simply put. I love the versatility of the Andiamo bag and their classic Jodie.
Manolos- Carrie Bradshaw knew what she was talking about. To be honest, I got rid of most of my other heels during my great closet purge earlier this year (more on that here if you are curious), but Manolos are comfortable and timeless.
anything prada nylon- as Chastity aka Gabrielle Union said in 10 Things I hate About You - “There’s a difference between like and love. Because I like my Skechers, but I love my Prada backpack”. The quality is SO top tier. A good Prada nylon crossbody, backpack or belt bag will last years. I know this from personal experience and the pieces my mom passed down to me (probably from around the time that movie came out, come to think of it) are still in great condition.
CBD soda- I’ve majorly cut back on alcohol in the last few years, partly due to pregnancy (duh), but before and after, too. I can’t even explain how much better I function without it. My favorite wind down drink after my daughter goes to sleep is a Mad Tasty sparkling soda. I missed these when I was pregnant more than I missed cocktails.
good sunnies (can’t stop wearing these) - stylish & another form of sun protection which is so. important.
bomber jacket -highly recommend a durable, washable fabric for my fellow toddler moms or anyone prone to spilling.
jeans.jeans.jeans. - I wear jeans pretty much everyday, so I’m willing to splurge, but Levis are a great, under $100 go-to (highly recommend this pair, I love the light-wash)
eye masks that actually work- I’ve tried them all, I can actually tell a difference when I use these.
comfortable (but stylish) sneakers- you never know when you’re gonna be stuck in an airport with lost luggage and only the clothes on your back for 30 hours, which is precisely what happened to me in September on my way to fashion week. I am so grateful I was wearing my Ganni x New Balances and can attest to their comfort.
Stanley cup- I just replaced my battered pink one after seeing my friend Jami-Lyn’s (interviewed her last week here, btw) black one. Turns out Stanleys are no exception to the everything is chicer in black rule.
skincare that works- I swear by this precleanse product- basically a super gentle cleanser meant to be used before a regular face wash or gentle exfoliant.
these tees - as mentioned, by yours truly, in Forbes this week!.
this ultra flattering, under $100 top- can’t stop wearing it.
something from the men’s section - it’s inexplicably cooler and always worth a browse. I picked up a flannel and cardigan from Shopbop Men recently and they’ve become staples.
Introducing………
I shared a lot of my postpartum fashion journey here, and wanted to continue that theme by introducing a new series- Moms with Style. Because being a mom doesn’t mean dressing cool is off the table. I’m kicking off this series with insanely talented interior designer, fellow substack writer and Texan turned Parisian, Allison Crawford. I met Allison when her now 4-year old daughter was a baby and I was hosting a vintage pop-up in Austin. Allison is truly mom goals- she has an insanely chic, minimalist wardrobe, and her Paris home was recently featured in VOGUE. She also chronicles her life in Paris in her newsletter, Postcards from Paris. Basically, she’s the coolest! Below, what Allison wears in a weekend.
Prada puffer. Celine boots, Wolford bodysuit, Citizens of Humanity Jeans. The Row bag. Old Celine sunnies. (editor’s note: how cute is this mother/daughter moment!!!)
Sezane shoes, Old Zara pants, Wolford bodysuit, Saint Laurent jacket.
Muji socks. vintage Levi’s. Uniqlo shirt. Brown Sezane button down.
Vintage Levi’s. Gallerie Lafayette Cashmere sweater. Celine loafers. Muji socks. (editor’s note- more info on her perfectly decorated tree here!)
The Row banana bag. Blundstone boots. Yankees hat. Sezane white Oxford. Sezane wool sweater (men’s small).
My style has evolved significantly over the past few years. Seven months after giving birth to my daughter, the pandemic hit. Fifteen months later, we moved to Paris from Austin. Since moving to France, my style for interiors and fashion is significantly influenced by Parisian culture, arts, and architecture. Recently, I needed to update and elevate my wardrobe further for a big project. After panicking for about a week, my interior design client who works in fashion, Anya Sigel, offered to help me with my fits. Together, we create mood boards, arrange together outfits, and make wish lists. This process has taught me that curating a chic wardrobe is similar to curating a stylish home.
That’s all for this week! If you liked this newsletter, please subscribe (it’s free), and share with a fashion-loving friend. As always, please say hi in my DM’s or on TikTok!
talk soon. xx, Liz
