Moms are superheroes I swear. Your birth story resonated with me - I had an incredibly traumatic birth with my first (maybe I’ll write about it someday) but it changes who you are as a person. As a mom of 2 for almost 5 years now I am SO EXCITED for you and your family for what’s to come. It’s absolute chaos 24/7 but the best kind possible xx

Liz, this resonates! Motherhood, womanhood really, IS dichotomy. It’s “frivolously” loving clothes and also being so amazed and grateful for what our bodies can do. It’s being excited AND nervous about having other kids. It’s being happy AND sad when our kids grow up. This “two truths” just isn’t talked about enough so thank you.

oh sending you so many hugs. Also had a super traumatic (for both of us) birth with my first. He’s five now and I’m still not fully over it. Having a much more peaceful and less scary delivery with my second was quite healing in a way I didn’t expect, though. I hope the same may be true for you.

It’s not selfish or shallow to miss your wardrobe. I truly think that to keep dressing however you feel most like YOU, and to keep allowing yourself to spend money and time on fashion when it’s something you love, is an act of strength and quiet rebellion against the expectation that we’re supposed to disappear into motherhood.

Getting dressed in the morning right now is one of the few things I feel I have control over. And a reason to get out of bed in the morning that’s just for me, and not to meet the endless obligations and demands of raising children. And it’s a creative act that makes my brain feel happy.

Also having two kids is just the absolute best and I wish you so much happiness and a safe smooth transition into your family of four!

Love this Liz! I'm also the first of my friends and it's also been so SO hard yet so cool and empowering to forge a path in a lot of ways. I feel you on missing your clothes!!! I've got a box that I'll reopen when I'm done having kids...

Fashion and motherhood, two of my favorite topics! What's it like to be so stylish AND strong af? Your kiddos are the luckiest. And yeah, I'll admit it as well - I miss and long for my pre-belly wardrobe, too!!! You're definitely not alone. Rooting for you and a super smooth remainder of your pregnancy, Liz! xo
