Maybe you’re in a hurry to get out the door and keep reverting to the same sweatshirt and jeans because it’s cold outside and you can’t think straight. Maybe you did (or didn’t) buy some new pieces over Black Friday but you ended up returning them and are back to feeling a bit bored by your options. Here are a few easy to replicate ideas I can almost guarantee you have the ingredients for.
Dries Van Noten sweatshirt, Tibi sweatpants
Tip 1: make your own set - Are you jealous of those girls who wear the perfectly coordinated sets and look so put together? Do YOU own two pieces of clothing in the same color? Okay, great. Now you ARE one of those girls with a set. See how easy that was? Sometimes all you need to feel put together is a good monochromatic fit.
vintage jacket, tee and slip dress. Jil Sander shoes on sale here.
Tip 2: Embrace your t-shirt collection- I bought this vintage Dodgers tee (not even a baseball fan tbh, I just liked the colors- so don’t be mad at me if you’re a Yankees fan) a few months ago and have yet to wear it. But, I want to! So, let’s pair it with a slip dress, fun shoes and a big jacket.
Tip 3: Rely on unexpected color combinations- I love this wonderfully obnoxious neon orange Balenciaga bag that I bought from TRR (found one for you here), and for some reason it works really well with grey. Try your summery neons with more muted tones.
Tip 4: Mix the vibes- A (faux) fur jacket and sweatpants? Count me in. Baggy athletic shorts and kitten heels? Cool. A slip dress with a hoodie over it? I love.
vintage Celine jacket (great gift from my husband). Aritzia tank. Tibi sweatpants. Wales Bonner Adidas. Bottega Andiamo bag.
Tip 5: Create new standbys (or uniforms, as my friend
calls them) - I’m a better person when I have these mapped out- even if it’s just in my head! My current fave is this big button down, vintage leather jacket, boots and bike shorts.Tip 6: Rely on accessories! - It’s no secret that at 20 weeks pregnant most of my clothes don’t fit (at least the way they used to). I’m even more inclined than usual to lean on a fun bag or shoes to make a statement like I did last weekend with my vintage LV bag. If you’re bored by your look, throw on a fun scarf, put a pin on your coat or grab a loud bag. Sometimes it really is that simple.
BTW……
The Iris Apfel vibes from these are strong! LOVE.
Just ordered this tank in blue and grey- ideal if you have a longer torso/want to avoid a cropped vibe
If one of your 2025 goals is joining a gym or getting outside more….here’s a cute set to motivate you.
A sweet little bag charm- would also make a great gift.

Last week was a casual one- filled with doctors appointments (dermatologist, veterinarian, pediatrician!), working from home, and running errands. Also rain, lots of rain. I lived in Oregon for the first seven years of my life and I would say L.A. is beginning to feel like Portland except we have sales tax! Ugh! (yes, for those of you who don’t know, th…
