I was lucky enough to find myself back in the city last week, just for a quick trip! Rain was in the forecast and I didn’t see a single drop. I actually walked to dinner in 75 degree weather one night?? It was lovely. Anyway, here’s what I wore, and what I bought (that list is short, we are moving next week and I’m trying not to accumulate more stuff between now and then!).
airport fit 1 - vintage Prada trench via James Veloria. G.Label grey sweater worn over trench. long sleeve crop tee. Tibi sweatpants. Sambas.
vintage RL leather vest, similar here and here. red skirt. Proenza loafers. Miu Miu bag.
tank. long denim shorts, similar here. sambas. Alaïa bag. Loewe sunnies.
Ref tank, cropped pants (similar here and here), Alaia bag (also in black, here)
Day 2- Tibi jumpsuit, bandeau, sambas. spiral necklace.
Lemaire red cardigan (similar-ish here, here, and here) over Nelle jeans, leopard Marni bag (btw, this is a great leopard bag for under $250) Proenza shoes, Goop cardigan
airport fit 2 - joggers, cropped tee, Leset red sweater, G. Label crewneck, Stockholm Surfclub leather jacket, Proenza shoes
Purchases- As I previously mentioned, we are moving houses in a few weeks (between two dogs, a toddler, and my shoe collection- we need more space!) and I’m sincerely trying not to purchase much between now and then. However, I obviously did some *market research* and visited a few stores. You may remember I found some really fun stuff last time I was at Ref in NY (more here). This time I was disappointed to find their vintage selection pretty depleted- probably makes sense since we are coming off Coachella/Stagecoach month and NY is warming up. Anyway, I bought my annual white dress for summer! I tend to have a hard time finding sundresses that don’t make me look like a little girl playing dress up, but this one is simple and easy to clean (aka the only kind of white clothing I will invest in as a toddler mom).
I also popped into James Veloria in Chinatown for a quick look and found a JPG jacket that fit perfectly. Will probably wear it with this Ref skirt.
I went to the infamous Dover Street Market to browse and while I enjoyed the artistic displays, I found myself wishing I was at the LA location that offers parking and an easier layout. It’s a bit of a maze in there. I tried on a few things for fun and bought these pleated shorts, which are perfect if you’re into the tennis vibe but not a skirt person.
the charms on one of their displays! love.
Lastly, I attended the Nelle Atelier pop-up and had a ball. I met Madeleine, their founder and some of my lovely internet friends IRL (shoutout
and ) which was so fun. I got the Claire jeans in Sky and sized up for a baggier fit.BTW…………….
I finished the latest Emily Henry novel, Funny Story. Cute, light read and just what I needed. Highly recommend if you’re headed to the beach soon.
In case you’re new here, I’m team leopard is a neutral! Ordered these under $100 jeans.
The MVP of my trip was this G.Label sweater. Not cheap, but I’ve worn it countless times and it hasn’t pilled. Makes a great layering piece. The NY girl uniform I noticed most was some form of a white tee, baseball cap, jeans and a grey cardigan or crewneck worn over the shoulders.
So many compliments on my Proenza lug-sole loafers (similar on sale here and here, found a size 6 here) I hadn’t worn in at least two months! I think they’re the perfect city girl antidote to the Miu Miu boat shoes.
So these razors were included in the lovely Nelle Atelier gift bag.. and they’re incredible! I tried and immediately threw out my crappy Venus one.
Some stuff I’m eyeing…..a denim Alex Mill field jacket that is perfection, Mr. Porter has some really great stuff right now. This is the denim bag of my dreams and I love the pearl detail on this ribbed tank. If you’re in search of a crisp white shirt for summer…. an iteration from Tibi that is perfectly unique but still super wearable. I’m loving these red sandals - would pair perfectly with a white dress or denim shorts. Lastly, this is my dream summer bag- love this black woven tote.
Okay, thanks for reading and please leave any and all packing tips below.
XO, Liz
