I think I’m finally ready to fully embrace the New Year. It only took me til mid month to feel the holiday fog lift and a minor glimpse of sunshine yesterday to get excited about getting dressed again. It’s been cold and dreary in L.A. and I continue to be grateful I made the (seemingly frivolous at the time) purchase of Chanel rain boots last month.
Even though I broke my no-buy January, I’ve remained committed to making new outfits with pieces I already own, which has actually been……fun! As I’ve said before- yes, this is a shopping newsletter but shopping your closet counts, too! I will try to link pieces similar to ones I’m wearing below if they’re not recent
red flats. navy skirt. brown leather jacket (sold out, similar here). blue cropped sweater. oat knit. camo pants. grey blazer. black bag. black grommet belt. leopard pants (run large, size down).
sweater. velvet leggings. vintage jacket.
cart chronicles
Bought more of my favorite tanks (one black, one white)
Thrifted a red corduroy button down at Fairfax flea for $20 which has been surprisingly versatile.
Found a gorgeous half off silk Prada dress at The Real Real store on Melrose, helping to solve my recurring nothing-to-wear date night outfit dilemma.
The perfect black pants, under $150. Thank me later.
Restocked this serum. My best friend (who I gifted it to) gave it a rave review and said her skin drinks this stuff up and that it is one of the more worth it skincare purchases she has tried. I’m too lazy to think of my own description, so I’m using hers!
Ordered this fancy mascara after loving every other Westman Atelier product I’ve tried. I got the brown as it’s supposedly more flattering with blue eyes? Can a make-up artist in the audience confirm or deny this for me?
Technically not a purchase as it was gifted, but I got a beautiful permanent bracelet from Ochre Objects this week at an event (also had a great Tarot card reading there- I love L.A.). Their Valentine’s Day collection (to be released soon) is gorgeous. Check out all of their pieces here, or drop a not so subtle hint and forward to your significant other.
I think I have found the new NuFace, but potentially better, and definitely a lot cheaper. It’s a vibrating Gua She device and I love it. It also has a warming and cooling feature. Shop it here, let me know your thoughts if you buy. I love mine!
Don’t sleep on Uniqlo for basics. I love their cashmere sweaters and cotton knits for layering. For all my fellow toddler moms, they have cute kids clothes, too!
Bought these as a layering piece as I have a red dress that was hemmed about an inch too short. Will report back on this idea, but they are fun.
closet cravings
a classic trench. Wearing my vintage Jil Sander wool trench frequently has me considering a more lightweight version for spring.
I think I’m too scarred from wearing a hideous school uniform to wear a polo again, but this cropped one makes a compelling case.
I have two upcoming trips to warm weather locations- loving this basic bikini and wondering if this striped skirt would make a cute cover-up?
Call me crazy, but I want the infamous Interior Bruno sweater in charcoal (on pre-order). I wear my Oat colored one almost too often but it really is just that cozy and cool. (Below, wearing it with velvet leggings on a recent date night).
This faux fur Gucci bag is completely absurd, and gives major Cheetah Girls energy in the best way. so extra and I love it. File under things I hope to find on The Real Real for 80% off one day.
Why not start the year with a fresh pair of sneaks? Still lots of sizes left in these! Same style as the Ganni x New Balance collab from last year but a more versatile color palette.
green tote girl
All of a sudden I have found myself with three green totes. Do I have an addiction? Perhaps. Whatever the case, this one has been a fresh addition to my collection and has a leather strap that fits nicely over my shoulder. I’ll be keeping both this camo canvas Prada bag and the Marni x Carhart tote, as they function quite differently than my latest buy. I love a good blind rationalization, don’t you?
That’s all for this week. Next week I’ll be traveling with my toddler (send prayers/good vibes/etc.) and attempting to pack my outfits in a carry-on.
Please share with a fellow fashion-lover if you’re so inclined and subscribe if you haven’t already.
xx, Liz
What are the leopard pants? That link is also the red bike shorts. Thank you!
Love finding trends in my own closet. 3 green totes is a fabulous example of what you are personally drawn to. Can’t wait to see how you style The Row tote
