This week is an unusual one. Full of resolutions, holiday hangovers, promises, plans and pressure. For me it has been productive but playful (literally, I took my daughter to the playground yesterday). I’ve made returns, shipped off late Christmas presents, dropped off film, taken down decorations, made travel plans, and enjoyed outings with my family.
Per usual, I’ve been thinking a lot about what it means to get dressed this week. Are we dressing to impress? Are we lounging in pajamas until noon? Are we in full back-to-work attire? There is no right or wrong answer, there is just what works for you. I like to think we are all in between who we were last year and who we will be this year- so what does that mean for our wardrobes? If we’re trying to dress better this year, does this week even count or is it more of a rough draft? Rehearsal? Dry run? Practice?
I spent yesterday running errands and subsequently running after my toddler (you guess which one is more tiring), so I wore this:
jumpsuit. trench (vintage, similar here). bag.
I traded out my coat for a chunky knit before we left, but kept this jumpsuit on all day. I love a good transitional piece and some winter white. Also, my friend
(featured here, in case you missed it) convinced me to buy The Row banana bag and I’ve worn it almost daily since. I got the large size and can fit all my essentials and my daughters but if you’re not packing for two I’d say the small is likely sufficient (and slightly less expensive).Below, more outfits from my in-between week. They’re not 100% polished, but they’re still true to my style and how I want to dress this year. It has been unseasonably cold in L.A. this week, really throwing some of us (me) off.
sweater. skirt. boots. bag.
sweater. jeans. bag. sunnies. boots.
jeans (size down). trench. tee. bag. maxi sweater (gifted by G.Label, sold out but similar here).
The rest of my outfits from this week are either on TikTok, or will be shortly, so head over there if you’re interested!

Since my shopping ban only applies to clothes, I’ve been cheating on fashion with furniture. I finally pulled the trigger on these barstools and bought a new duvet cover and throw pillow. I’ve been in nesting mode ever since the end of my second trimester and it hasn’t really let up since (my husband can confirm, and would likely point out our daughter is now 15 months old).
Of course because I have (temporarily) sworn off buying clothes, shoes, bags, etc. I have found some really great stuff. What, did you think I wasn’t at least going to look at what my closet and I are missing out on? Sharing my favorites below for your browsing pleasure.
This leather vest, now an extra 20% off, btw. Would be very cool paired with silky pants or worn open with a tank and jeans. Could also look great over a sheer top with your favorite coat. The possibilities are endless!!
These corduroy pants - According to
, corduroy pants might be the new jeans (almost the exact title of her newsletter this week, one that I always look forward to), and this olive pair has me thinking she’s spot on, which she typically is.I’ve been lusting after this Tibi jacket for a minute- but here is a much less expensive cropped version (on sale).
This knit may, in fact, be what breaks me. It’s just that good. Cute without being too cute, and I love the unexpected navy color of the heart motif. (It’s available on several sites, linking it on Modiste because it is slightly less expensive with code badinfluence)
I love a good platform sneaker and this pair is no exception (also on sale).
I have mixed feelings on Bermuda shorts, but not on these. They’re brilliant. Perfect if you’re lucky enough to be heading on a trip soon.
By the way, if you, too, need the reminder - Pinterest remains a great way to organize your wishlist. I noticed I was keeping about a million tabs open to “save” the stuff I want to buy and now they’re all organized neatly in a new board.
I did receive some packages this week from my (pre-ban) end-of-year shopping. I’m returning this dress even thought I love it because I’m just a little too short (it’s beautiful and if you’re 5’5 or above it will probably be perfect on you, I just didn’t want to cut the lace hem). I’m keeping this gold chain, these sambas, and this brown jacket. Sadly, the chain and sambas weren’t on sale but are staples since I wear sneakers and layered necklaces daily.
not not showing off my new manicure. lots of sizes restocked (in a few color ways) here.
The only other thing I want to mention that has absolutely nothing to do with the rest of this newsletter is have you seen the new Proenza Schouler campaign? It’s absolutely brilliant. Pamela Anderson is make-up free and looks as fabulous as ever. Good for her, good for them, and good for everyone!
That’s all from me this week- if you are enjoying this newsletter please share and subscribe if you haven’t already.
xx, Liz
Pops of red - love it! That Sezane sweater is fantastic.
Love love love the Mara Hoffman denim trench!
