Hi, friends! Chances are you’ve heard me mention my younger sister, Mimi, in this newsletter before. She has really great taste (she’s a Taurus, naturally), gives the best gifts and lives in a beautifully decorated apartment where she loves to host all kinds of gatherings. In a lot of ways, it feels like she’s more of a grown-up than I am. She is 3 years younger than me (and, like, 5 inches taller! very unfair, tbh) and lives in Chicago where she is working on her MBA, which will be her second master’s degree. As you can maybe tell we have really flipped the script on the older/younger sibling societal expectations. Her lifestyle is quite different from mine- it’s rare for her to have a night in (okay, so we haven’t completely flipped the script), and her wardrobe is a bit dressier. I thought it would be fun to have her share some of her Gen-Z must-haves and she kindly pointed out to me that we are both Zillenials (born between 1993 and 1998, she really is the smarter one)! Anyway, here are some of her recent purchases and a little glimpse into her apartment.
Isn’t she cute?! shop her fit- dress/coat/boots/bag/sunglasses
Blazers- Love this sequin blazer on a night out and recently wore it to a Bulls game. This one has a great oversized fit and is perfect to wear with black pants for the office or a mini skirt/dress on a night out.
Tom Ford candle- I just bought this candle as part of a wedding gift for my friends- it looks so chic on a coffee table or bookcase.
Miu Miu headband (sold out, similar here and beanie version here)- This was a Christmas gift from my sister and elevates my winter outfits while keeping me warm on long walks or ice skating dates.
Champagne glasses and Decanter- As Liz said, I love to host. This decanter elevates my bar cart and matches my favorite wine glasses. My friend’s golden recently knocked one of these champagne glasses right off my coffee table, but he’s still my favorite house guest!
moisturizer - While I love winter weather, my skin does not. This cream is thick and protects my sensitive skin from the elements in Chicago.
cropped cashmere sweater- Soft and versatile, one of my best basics. I wear it with jeans to class or with a mini skirt going out.
swimsuit- Just got this for Spring Break! I love how well Norma Kamali’s pieces fit.
BTW…..
Thanks for all the love on last week’s outfit post. Read here if you missed it and are looking for some inspo~
Continuing my leopard obsession by purchasing these for my daughter and this sports bra for myself. It really IS a neutral, I swear!
I already own this in pink, but there’s just something about a crisp, white dress for Spring/Summer. The silhouette on this one is great, too!
The new arrivals at Madewell are really good. This woven sling bag and eyelet top are perfect denim short pairings.
Speaking of new arrivals, I got a little carried away on the Free People app last night. I bought a parka (sadly, this was more of a necessity), striped crewneck, white shirt, red eyelet top, and knit tank. Will share a try-on haul in next week’s letter.
Borrowed from the boys- Sezane gets a lot of hype, but rarely do I see their mens stuff get mentioned. This vest is a cool layering piece, as is this green workwear jacket. On the women’s side, this cardigan gets rave reviews and I just ordered one in cobalt blue. I’ve been browsing Mr. Porter lately. I bought a Gallery Dept. tee and added this Celine sweater to my wishlist, but this tee might have been the most indicative of how this week felt?
Shopbop sale - an extra 15% off select items with code EXTRA15. My favorite camo pants (from last week’s letter) are included, along with some very discounted baggy jeans, a blue sweater I get asked about every time I wear it (limited sizes left, found a size L here!), and chic Stella trousers. Would be lying if I said this blazer wasn’t in my cart.
I couldn’t resist this Dapper Dan x GAP bear for a dear friends baby boy, too cute!
Survived the horde of pre-teens at Sephora this weekend and bought more Westman Atelier products- the brow pencil is wonderful and so is the lip gloss (coming from a mostly lipstick girl).
I will admit I own a pair of black Chanel ballet flats that seldom see the light of day, and that it took me awhile to warm to the ballet flat trend but you have to be kidding me with these Alaia flats!! They’re perfect.
I am trying to get back to twice weekly posts because I miss writing. The past month has been full of daycare viruses and rain and I am hoping March brings sunshine and health! Later this week I’ll be sharing transitional spring outfits.
As always, please forward to a fellow fashion-lover and tap the heart below if you enjoyed reading. Feel free to slide into my DM’s to talk all things fashion or tell me about your latest buys!
xx, Liz
Love seeing your relationship with your sister. A fun perspective on style
I scored a pair of r13 slouch leopard pants on TRR 100% inspired by last week’s post! Whoever shot them had rolled the hems up and made them look like weird capris but I rolled the dice and they were just normal straight leg pants. Already worn them twice.
