Hi friends! Lots of travel lately on my end- last week my husband and I took our daughter to Oregon for a nice 4th of July getaway with my parents and sister. Most of the outfits were too chill to document. As fellow toddler parents know, traveling with a child is not a vacation but we did have fun. Linked all my looks and compiled a little edit of summer staples below.
tank. skirt (actually, they’re pants that look like a skirt, part of set). necklace. bag is Miu Miu, similar shape here.
favorite white tee, hands down! similar necklace here.
sandals. (secondhand for a good price here and here)
jersey tee. slip dress. heart necklace. Loewe raffia bag.
Travel tips
Packing cubes / toiletry cases- This is the thing with packing cubes- they’re as useful as you allow them to be. Specifically- if you just stuff your things into them without organization they’re kind of a waste. BUT- they’re incredible if you want to pack by category (pants, underwear, shirts, etc.) OR by outfit (think I might try this method next). I also love packing an extra one to separate my dirty laundry at the end of a trip.
Try on your outfits- I always always regret not doing this. It helps cut down on unnecessary last minute stuff you might be tempted to throw in.
Flip flops- This pertains mostly to summer travel. Leather or raffia sandals are great but sometimes nothing beats a classic flop.
Pack a canvas tote - ideal for markets, thrift shopping, carrying your kids stuff and a million other things. have never regretted throwing in one of these. Just bought this (under $50) one - love the embroidery detail.
Travel sizes are your friend- The options here are two fold- you can buy basic empties on amazon and fill them with your existing products. OR you can buy a travel set. Sometimes I buy travel sets for quick weekend trips to try new products from brands I already love. This one has been great for the health of my (bleached, damage prone) hair. Either way, I never rely on hotels having decent shampoo/conditioner/body wash options.
Dry clean, in advance! - If you have special pieces that can’t be cleaned otherwise, don’t forget to drop them off (preferably a week or a few days prior) to your trip.
Hostess gifts but good ones- more than a bottle of wine. An embroidered boat tote, nice vase, or even just adding some fancy glassware in addition to a bottle of champagne (or whatever your host prefers) are nice extras.
SPF - Sorry, just the mom in me reminding you to wear your sunscreen. I use this for body and this for my face.
Bring 1 piece of statement jewelry, maximum 2- Having too many options will only slow you down when you’re getting dressed, I promise.
Look at pics- what did you wear on your last trip that you loved? that you hated? For me, I remember that not packing a white tank really messed me up and I needed to pack another set of PJs.
Razor cover - nothing worse than reaching into a toiletry bag and cutting yourself! I bought this cover for mine (also find this to be the best brand for razors, period).
Keep a toiletry bag packed with travel size essentials- As mentioned previously, this is my new go-to. I am now keeping mine prepacked with travel size haircare essentials.
Freezer snacks- do not underestimate the power of this! I freeze ginger shots (KOR brand, typically) and throw them into my tote before I leave (I put a post-it on my door so I remember). If you’re a mom- freeze some toddler yogurt pouches- this has helped me travel with healthier snacks for my daughter.
