A note- None of these gift ideas take up a lot of space because chances are the LA or NY girl in your life has very limited storage. And yes, I’m aware other major cities exist- I have a sister much cooler than me who lives in Chicago. Anyway, I hope these ideas are inspirational for all the cool girls in your life, especially you!
First, let’s start with the L.A. girl. She would most definitely resonate with a hoodie that says God’s Favorite, because isn’t that how everyone feels as they drive down the PCH at sunset? Speaking of a superiority complex, it’s every L.A. girls dream to look cool at Erewhon and shearling slides are perfect for a tonic bar pit stop on the way home from pilates (add a membership and she just might let you join her crew for Coachella weekend). Btw, did you know Tyler the Creator has his own nail polish? Get it for her in this shade of blue. It’ll remind her of the beach, aka the reason she moved to L.A. in the first place, even though she ended up living a good forty five minutes away on the east side. Other ideas of note- the same gold bracelets that adorn her favorite TikTok’s stars wrist, Prada sunnies that give major nepo-baby vibes, and a silver bag that almost doubles as a compact mirror (you never know when the paparazzi are going to strike next).
One thing I love about New Yorkers is their commitment to the commute. Get them some comfy but stylish sneakers and a fancy case for their metro card. Also, because they’re always on the go- bonus points if you add in a luxe travel set of their favorite shampoo to keep at their boyfriends place or use at the gym. A great wardrobe addition for any NY girl? This hoodie- consider the bow detail a nod to their secret soft side. If they’re trying to minimize their day-to-day baggage (aren’t we all) maybe a chic belt bag to keep their most essential essentials close and separate from the big tote they haul the rest of their necessities in. Lastly, an engraved lighter from NY designer Sandy Liang- because even if she’s no Carrie Bradshaw it looks even cooler next to her coffee table books than matches and is something her suburban friends with kids could never have in their homes (it’s me, I’m the suburban friend).
