Listen, I love traveling but sometimes there is just no better feeling than returning home after a trip. My dogs! My closet! My skincare products! I was only gone for five days, so maybe I’m being dramatic?
I went into this trip with high hopes and organized pouches placed neatly into my new Idaho tote. My toddler did so well on the flight and I remained proud of myself for not overpacking. This superior feeling faded quickly as the strap on my Idaho tote popped off as I walked up the stairs of my parents house. I was fairly distraught, and still am, though the good people at Net-A-Porter (where I purchased from) have been very kind in helping me replace and return. I never thought any of the weird odds and ends I keep at my parents house would be useful to me again, but alas, I found an old LL.Bean boat tote emblazoned with my dog’s name on it and you know what? I’m going to order another smaller one because I think they’re pretty great.
This is the first trip where I really felt like I did not overpack but still had some fun new outfits in the mix. It also begged the question- what does one wear to…… a pirate festival?! (google Tampa,FL Gasparilla if you’re curious). My attendance was very brief, but I wore this striped crop top and red Prada shorts from TheRealReal. I also pulled out my Bottega point bag for this trip. I strongly believe the Point bag is one of the most underrated Bottega bags in existence and if you like it, too, there are several available on resale sites (found one for you here and here). You know who else has one? Writer of one of my favorite reads,
.I also wore this dress that I had been saving for way too long and is now generously marked down! Maybe the lesson of this letter is don’t be a dummy like me and pay full retail?
I pulled out my sleeveless Loewe sweater, a sweet gift from my husband that I really treasure. This knit (sold out, similar here) has been surprisingly versatile. I can’t wait to wear it over a bikini top with silky shorts on vacation. I paired it over a white tank for family dinner with baggy jeans with this bag. More affordable sleeveless knits here and here. The hit of the weekend beauty-wise was this lipstick/highlighter duo stick. I buy it in the coral rose shade and pretty much refuse to take a photo without using it first. Oh and yes, I got the banana bag in ivory. This is the small size and I love it!
Okay- let’s talk airplane outfits because I actually liked the ones I wore on this trip. We took 3 flights (!!) over the course of 5 days (ambitious?stupid?maybe both!)- here is what I wore:
Wore this on our longest flight- from LAX to Tampa. A moment for the Still Here subway jeans. I know their Everyday jeans broke the cool girl internet last week, (btw yes, I ordered a pair for myself), but I just love how different these are. Slightly cargo-ish in style, but more flattering. Anyway, I paired mine with a black knit, white cropped sweater, boots, and my Khaite belt. I wore all my favorite things in one outfit not only because it was easy to throw together, but also because I’d rather not put any of these items in checked luggage!
Outfit 2- This was for what was supposed to be a quick flight from Tampa to Atlanta (we ended up being delayed, but oh well). I wore a fancy white tee, the subway jeans, again, same belt and my Miu Miu blazer (similar here) because it’s more of a coat and in theory I was going to be cold. It turns out chasing a toddler around an airport all day will have you enjoying the lower temps once you get outside, who knew?
Outfit 3- Yay, a real photo! Wearing baggy jeans, zipper boots, black tee, my classic leather jacket and a thrifted sweater. Tying a sweater around my shoulders used to make me feel like a preppy weirdo but now it’s a styling trick I use when I want to add a little something *extra*. I wore this same sweater tied around my shoulders to a dinner hosted by the lovely
(scroll her recent LA post for everyone’s outfit details).BTW…..
Nobody asked but this is the year I’m growing my hair out! I bought the fancy vitamins advertised on every podcast known to man, this viral hair mask that I can happily report is worth the hype, and a scalp massager. Will dedicate a full post to this in the future (aka, when I can actually tell my hair has grown)
I’ve really struggled with eye bags, especially since having a baby.
did a post on 5 products that saved her under eyes and I bought all the products listed. I don’t typically do this, but I’ve been debating under-eye filler lately and I’ll do anything to avoid a needle near my eye! This dress lives rent-free in my head. It is not available in my size, I don’t have an occasion to wear it to, but a girl can dream!
Another day, another cropped sweater purchase. In my defense, it’s been on the wishlist for quite some time and it’s half off.
A very good read by Anna of
about the disconnect between the clothes we buy and what we actually end up wearing. It brought me back to closet cleaning and validated my currently very slim dress selection.Maybe I’m jaded because of my recent experience, but this bag has a similar shape, is also canvas and is a fraction of the price of the Idaho tote.
I’ve been wanting some silver sneakers that aren’t the Wales Bonner Adidas (not because I don’t like them, but because they’re way too marked up on the secondhand market right now). These fit the bill, and even have a splash of that lovely shade of green I’m very into right now.
I don’t think I’ve mentioned this yet but I have major travel anxiety and typically have a panic attack on the way to the airport. I used to take a very low dose CBD gummy, but now I take one of these chill gummies. I like that they calm my nerves but don’t make me sleepy.
- aka Pigmami and author of PIGPEN, had a really really thought provoking newsletter this morning, noting that “your style is what you’re actually using and wearing, not what’s useful in theory”. A brilliant read! Especially if you’re set on fewer future closet clean outs and defining your personal style.
I took FIVE pairs of pants to the tailor this morning. FIVE! Being short is such a pain sometimes. The really cool & kind
was kind enough to share Bad Influence on her weekly recommendations list and linked to one of my more popular newsletters- Short Girl Styling guide. Still relevant, and I’m begging Madeleine of Nelle Atelier to make every kind of pant possible so I can avoid more astronomical alteration bills.MERIT is offering this very cool lighter with orders over $75. A very cool coffee table accessory, in my opinion.
Okay, that's all for me today. Please share with a fashion-loving friend if you feel like it. As always my DMs are open and comments are, too!

First of all, honored to be named here. Second of all I don’t know how you do it. There’s so much juicy content here I have to read it again this weekend. Also: the red shorts. (!!) so grateful for this overflow of delights. 😘
Love this. Love your HAIR.
