notebook.. backpack .. hair clips .. sneakers..tee..shorts..snack cup..water bottle..lunchbox
A few weeks ago I said that I was still enjoying my summer slumber but I now must admit that fall is starting to feel pretty inevitable. Labor Day weekend is upon us, and after that the back to school season will be here! Or maybe it already is for a few of you. I typically keep mom content ( for those of you who don’t know, I have an almost two year old) to a minimum, but this was a special request and I had a lot of fun putting it together. I also think back to school is a state of mind- it’s a great time for a fresh start at your home, job, etc., even just with yourself. You can embrace it without a bouquet of freshly sharpened pencils, I promise.
These back to school mom items are flexible- whether you command a boardroom five days a week and take your kids to the park on the weekends, wake up and go to mommy and me with your newborn, or live somewhere in the in-between like I do- all of these items are things I personally own (okay, besides this tee- but I think it applies to all moms) and find useful.
pants… lip mask..canvas tote..vans..tee..sunnies..sleeveless sweatshirt..planner.. stanley
Our fall calendar is already filling up, and I like to use this slim planner notebook in addition to my phone. I commit things to memory more easily when I write them down. I’m also a big fan of these pants- which have gotten me stopped in my tracks at drop-off but could also be worn to a meeting. The waistband detail makes them slightly playful. I have discussed my love for these totes at length on instagram, and am sharing again here, because I think the straps and size are perfect. They come in an array of colors, as well as black (likely my next purchase). I recently discovered that Clare V. makes clothes and this sleeveless sweatshirt is perfect for transitional weather. Other necessities include fun sunnies (to cover your eye bags as you adjust to waking up earlier and earlier) and platform vans. I’m all about a shoe that’s easy to slip on and off.
shorts… flats..concealer..hoops..baseball cap..field jacket.. studded bag.
This is a mini version of my ‘pre-fall’ wishlist, even though, yes, that’s a made up season. Chances are if you have a kid in school, there will be fundraisers, parades, parent teacher conferences and other events to attend. A field jacket, fun baseball cap, fancy flats (honorable mention to these, too) and studded bag add flavor to otherwise simple looks. I *also* think these would be fun pieces for those in grad school or college, but I’m afraid Gen Z might laugh at that take? I swipe on this concealer every morning, usually when I’m at a red light, if we’re being honest.
I buy these tees in bulk for my daughter- the cotton is soft and they’re nice, but not precious. This stain spray is actually life changing and I’ve used it for my own laundry, not just my daughters. We have graduated from silicone plates to these metal ones and I couldn’t recommend them enough! We do, however, use these silicone snack bags and I find them to be perfect for orange slices. etc. Unfortunately with Fall comes cold and flu season, so I spray a little vitamin-c in my daughter’s water bottle when things start going around (I’m not a doctor and I have no idea if it helps, but it makes me feel slightly better). And if you know me, you know I care about sun exposure, so I try to keep a hat (this one from the Doen collab is cute)on my daughter’s head and sunscreen on all day (my mom did research on the best children’s sunscreen and found this one). If your child is in their lunchbox phase, then face and hand wipes are essential. If you’re looking for new kitchenware I highly recommend checking out Material’s offerings.
BTW….
Did anyone else watch the first few episodes of Emily in Paris? I enjoyed listening to the recap on Fashion People this week.
Loving this watch- another great piece by Heaven Mayhem is this minimalist pendant.
Substacks I enjoyed this week -
’s is one of my favorite reads and I loved hearing her thoughts on Blake Lively’s new haircare line here. pondered if Girl Math was invented by a man here, and shared a chart on how she breaks down her clothing purchases here (I need to do this), and ’s breakdown on The Branded Trash Cans of Madison Avenue was fascinating.

Thank you for including some treats that apply for all, even those whose children are grown! XX
