Hi friends! Thanks for allowing me to take a break. I hope you were able to read my friend Rachel’s guest post. I’m so grateful for all the kind messages, comments and shows of support after sharing the news that my husband John had a stroke two weeks ago. Things have finally settled down- it’s been a lot to process and take in, but he is improving every day and I’m so proud of his strength.
I feel like we have a LOT to catch up on. First and foremost, Fashion Week fun- I was merely an internet observer this year but I do have fomo (do people still say that anymore?). I have enjoyed reading about the events here on substack versus other platforms. Some of my favorite highlights include Tommy Hilfiger’s show on a ferry, Mara Hoffman walking the runway at Collina Strada, the continued comeback of Coach, lightweight layers at Tibi and discovering new to me designers like Willy Chavarria.
I haven’t done a lot of writing (obviously!) but I have been browsing! Seemingly the only thing doctor’s office waiting rooms are good for, besides, you know, waiting for the doctor. It seems like we are in a season of fresh new picks on TheRealReal after a bit of a lull this summer. If you need a refresher on how to navigate the site, I wrote a guide below.
I really recommend taking stock of your wardrobe and making notes on what you gravitate towards. Even looking at the online orders you placed a year ago and considering how useful those pieces have been. That’s what I did before I placed a big Shopbop order for Fall. Another pair of platform vans, a leopard tee, a fresh pair of my favorite jeans (size up one), a long sleeve tee, and two pairs of boxer shorts- one black and one denim. I plan on pairing them with big sweaters and tall boots. Also, a splurge- this Stella polo. Not inexpensive, but a worthy investment.
My biggest inspiration as of late has come from the Current Affair show I attended last weekend. I always go with my best friend Phong, and we agree that the people watching is elite. So many cool, well dressed women in one place- the outfits never disappoint! Forgive me for not taking photos, but lots of crochet, denim, sneakers, and vintage Chanel bags.
Speaking of vintage(ish) Chanel, John and I had our first date night in awhile this weekend and I got to break out these boots, a TRR score I need to wear more often.
Another fun closet addition since we last spoke is this mesh tote bag. I’m considering it a substitute for the green mini Miu Miu bag I fell in love with at their preview last spring, pictured below.
Can’t wait to talk again soon! Thanks for reading. xx, Liz
Love the boots!!! A true score!!!
Those Chanel boots are stunnnnnning
